Blue Ridge Parkway Scenic Landscape Asheville NC

            ~ Heart of the Mountain ~

The last glow of the sun illuminating a cluster of Catawba Rhododendron on a rocky outcropping near Asheville, NC. 

While hiking along the Blue Ridge Parkway north of Craggy Gardens with my friend and renowned photographer, Jason Penland, we came upon this picturesque scene.

The entire mountain side was covered in Rhododendron, so we decided to stick around for sunset, and boy was I glad we did.

It's moments like these that make the countless hours of driving, miles of hiking, and relentless bug attacks well worth it!
