            Although by this time firmly ensconced in WCR's stable, former Virgin Trains FAB 1 still wears the totally drab and boring faded Arriva Trains plain blue garb when photographed at Berkley near Frome top-and-tail with maroon colleague 57313. Less than a month later the loco had passed through the WCR paint shop and emerged in the arguably even less appealing corporate maroon.

The former 47s were in charge of 1Z47 the returning Paignton to Ely "The English Riviera Statesman". In sunlight any up working through here is blighted by backlighting at this spot from mid-afternoon to sunset (in fact anywhere between Taunton and Westbury holds similar challenges), clearly not a problem on this particular day.
