Wast Water.

            Looking up Wast Water to Wasdale Head.

I'd like to say this was an enjoyable day in the Lakes but I didn't come up for hiking or photography. I was house hunting.

I viewed a few but eventually realised that most of the places I'd been considering are just too far away. 1hr+ to get from here to Buttermere.

I'd been in the van for 6hrs already and decided to come up to Wast Water after a visit to St Bees and viewing a place in Egremont. Weather was awful all day and this was the only time I saw any sun which was lighting up the lower slopes of Scafell Pike with Yewbarrow to the left. There was a strong wind blowing and I was huddled behind a large boulder trying to keep the camera steady. Felt slightly odd being back in the Lakes and I also hadn't really been out with the camera since the easing of lockdown other than New Brighton for a couple of mornings. Not particularly happy with the comp or image and it shows how easy I fall out of practice. More Kevin Keegan than Lionel Messi. Have to work at it.

I should've waited until Monday when I'd have been able to stay. I must admit to being tempted to find a quiet lay-by for the night as the forecast for sunrise today looked great but I noticed a distinct lack of motorhomes/campervans whilst I was driving from town to town, village to outlying village so decided we've come this far and it was the long drive back down the M6.

Not an unmitigated disaster as I've managed to narrow the search down. May need to compromise on requirements to be more central but with the whole idea for the move being able to fall out of bed and be on the fells in minutes, I came away pleased to have been able to rule out a fair few areas. Cockermouth now looking favourite....but that means either no off road parking or a small garden.
