Version 1 of the Yashica Penta J - June 1961

This is Yashica's first M42 screw mount lens SLR. It "replaced" the short lived Pentamatic series of SLR's that featured Yashica's own bayonet mount for their lenses.

The V1 Penta J (by the way, in Japan the "J" was initially called the Jaguar) is a Pentamatic with a different lens mount. The location of the neck strap lugs are in the same location as the Pentamatic and Pentamatic II. The exposure meter lug (where the "J" is) is the same as the lug in the Pentamatic S. The shutter release button is also in the same location as the Pentamatic S.

This camera is a true hybrid between the first versions of the Pentamatics and this new M42 mount body.
