“Sky, you do not look happy today, what is wrong?” Asked Barnaby.
“I have a big problem, Barnaby, in fact, we all have the same big problem.”
“What is that, Sky?” Asked Bertie stretching his paws high in the air having just had a nap.
“The problem is honey, Bertie, and I am surprised you have not encountered it yourself.”
“Well, no actually, I do not have any so I am, at the moment, borrowing it from Posh. I am sure if you asked, he would let you have some too.”
“I have a jar, so that is not the problem, I think we may have to all change to those plastic squeeze containers in future.”
“No, we cannot do that, the liquid honey does not taste the same. It is not what the buzzy things make and I suspect it is only a watered down version that is done to make stocks go further.” Said Posh Bear looking very serious.
“Well, we have to do something, Posh, the buzzy things seem to be tightening the lids even tighter and I am unable to remove them.”
“Poor Sky, imagine have a whole jar of delicious honey before you and not being able to touch a drop. It just is not right.” Said Bertie giggling.
“I have tried all sorts but the lid will not move.” Said Sky looking very grumpy.
“Have you asked Buttons, he is big and strong and opens most lid easily?” Said Barnaby.
“I did mention it to him and he said he would but he wants half the jar for doing it. Half a whole jar, that is exorbitant. Last time he helped, he only had two spoonfuls.”
“Sky, that is what is known as inflation.” Said Bertie still giggling.
“Well, I don’t want to be inflated, I am going to complain to the buzzy things about this.”
“That will not help one bit, Sky, for you do not speak buzzy and they do not speak bear.”
“In that case we must change over to a squeezy container that a bear can get his paws around. These big jars are fine for hoomans but no good what so ever for us bears.”
“I do not want squeezy honey, Sky, so will you order me the same as I always have, please?” Said Bertie.
“Me too, Sky. I get in such a mess with squeezy honey.” Agreed Barnaby.
“I will continue with my usual honey, Sky, so the squeezy stuff is just for you.” Said Posh Bear.
“What about Harrod, Wellington, Linda, and the other bears? They might like squeezy honey.” Said Sky without much conviction.
“They might, Sky, I rather doubt it. I have an idea that might help, Sky, just suppose you take your jar and put it in my store and take out a different jar, one that is easy to open and we will do a swap.” Said Posh Bear smiling at his friend.
“Well, that is kind of you, Posh, thank you. I will do that after the man has taken our picture then.”
“That is all very well, Posh, but what are you going to do with a jar that small bears like us can’t open?”
“Simple, Bertie, I will wait until Buttons wants some and then exchange the jar that comes for him with the one with the tight lid. He will open it as he always does and no bear will lose out.”
“Hey, that is quite clever for such an old bear. Not quite a genius, like me, but you are getting there.” Said Sky looking surprised.
