Rostock: Steintor, Feldseite, daneben das Ständehaus - Stone Gate with the Ständehaus next to it

Das Steintor in seiner heutigen Form ist ein 1574 bis 1577 im Renaissance-Baustil errichtetes Tor im Süden der historischen Rostocker Stadtbefestigung. Es gehörte neben dem Kröpeliner Tor, dem Petri- und Mühlentor zu den vier Haupttoren der Stadt und war Teil der 22 zum einstigen Mauerring gehörenden Tore.

Das Ständehaus wurde 1889-1893 als Parlamentsgebäude für die Ritter- und Landschaft Mecklenburg gebaut. Heute ist es Sitz des Oberlandesgerichts. (www.rostock.m-vp.de)

The Stone Gate in its present form is a gate built between 1574 and 1577 in Renaissance style in the south of the historic Rostock city fortifications. Along with the Kröpeliner Tor, the Petri- and Mühlentor, it was one of the four main gates of the city and was part of the 22 gates belonging to the former wall ring.

The Ständehaus was built between 1889 and 1893 as a parliament building for the knights and rural gentry of Mecklenburg (both Grand Duchies). Today it is the seat of the Higher State Court.
