Halle (Saale):Moritzburg, Talamt auf der Südseite, wieder errichtet 1901-1904 - Moritzburg castle, Talamt (Saline Administrator's Office) at the south side, rebuilt 1901-1904

            Ursprünglich befanden sich an dieser Stelle Wirtschaftsgebäude, die Küche und Brunnen. Das Talamt, Sitz des Salzgrafen, also des Leiters des Salzwerkes, stand bis 1881 am Hallmarkt. Zwei Räume des historischen Gebäudes wurden in den Neubau auf der Moritzburg integriert.

Originally there were farm buildings, the kitchen and fountains on this site. The Talamt, the office of the head of the salt works, stood at the Hallmarkt until 1881. Two rooms of the historic building were integrated into the new building at Moritzburg castle.

Im Jahr 1484 wurde der Grundstein für die Moritzburg, die spätere Residenz der Magdeburger Erzbischöfe gelegt. Sie wurde im Stil der Spätgotik errichtet und ist heute eines der imposantesten Bauwerke der Saalestadt Halle.
Im Dreißigjährigen Krieg wurde die Moritzburg 1637 durch ein Feuer in weiten Teilen beschädigt und 1639 sprengten sächsische Truppen die Südwest-Bastion mit einer Mine, um die schwedische Besatzung zur Aufgabe zu zwingen. Danach blieb die Burg weitgehend Ruine und der Wohnsitz des Magdeburger Erzbischofs wurde auch offiziell in die benachbarte, 1531 erbaute Neue Residenz verlegt.
Seit 1904 beherbergt die Moritzburg vor allem ein Kunstmuseum mit überregionaler Ausstrahlung. Von 2005 bis Dezember 2008 wurden Nord- und Westflügel von den Architekten Enrique Sobejano und Fuensanta Nieto zur Erweiterung der Ausstellungsfläche ausgebaut. Seit dem 13. In 1484 the foundation stone was laid for Moritzburg castle, the later residence of the archbishops of Magdeburg. It was built in the late Gothic style and is today one of the most impressive buildings in Halle.
During the Thirty Years' War  Moritzburg castle was damaged in large parts by fire in 1637 and in 1639 Saxon troops blew up the southwest bastion with a mine to force the Swedish occupation troops to give up. Afterwards the castle remained largely ruined and the residence of the Archbishop of Magdeburg was officially moved to the neighbouring New Residence, built in 1531.
Since 1904 the Moritzburg has mainly housed an art museum of supra-regional importance. From 2005 to December 2008, architects Enrique Sobejano and Fuensanta Nieto rebuilt the north and west wings to expand the exhibition space. The expanded art museum has been open to the public since 13 December 2008.
