Lübeck: Braunschweiger Löwe auf dem Domkirchhof - Brunswick Lion at the Churchyard of the romanesque Cathedral

            Im Jahre 1173 legte Heinrich der Löwe als Stifter den Grundstein des Lübecker Doms als Kathedrale für das Bistum Lübeck. Daran erinnert die Kopie des Braunschweiger Löwen vor dem Dom, der nicht nur die erste Backsteinkirche des Ostseeraums, sondern auch mit 130 Metern eine der längsten ist.
 In 1173 Henry the Lion laid the first stone for the Lübeck Cathedral. This is the reason why a copy of the Brunswick Lion, his symbol, is standing next to the Cathedral which is not only the first brick church of the Baltic reason but at the same time one of the longest, with 130 metres.
