Great White Egret - a photo on Flickriver

Great White Egret

            Ardea alba

Shot with the Oly 300/4 handheld.

A rare vagrant species in the UK. Found this on a large reserve with wide spaces, a good reserve for scopes but not cameras. A twitchy and flighty species, this bird will fly if it sees you at 100yds. I need to get closer -- this one at about 70 yrds.
