Portal to a New World - a photo on Flickriver

            Great Hall, Ellis Island, New York City 
This door and window filled arch is part of the Great Hall built in 1900 to replace the original Inspection Station at Ellis Island that opened in 1892 that was destroyed by a fire.  This quiet alcove next to the Great Hall provides a glimpse of Manhattan and a chance to ponder the dreams of all immigrants (past, present, future).
