Through the Looking Glass - a photo on Flickriver

            A few days ago while riding my bike through a nature park, I discovered this unusual tree with its heavy heavy branches growing alongside the grass, as if the branches were too heavy for the tree to hold up but still wanted to grow and reach up toward the sun.  I got off my bike and circled round and round the tree; it was a tangled mess, and I wasn't sure if there was a shot there.  But I was intrigued, so a couple of days later, I came back on a cloudy, gloomy day with my camera gear.  I took a number of shots, but the magic wasn't happening.  Then I found a low angle close to the ground, shooting through the roots and branches forming an archway over the grass.  That was it!

Unfortunately, me being low to the ground meant many mosquitoes or perhaps poison oak, because I came back with lots of red, itchy bumps on my leg [lesson to be learned... wear long pants when shooting amidst nature and water, even if the temperatures are mild]. But despite everything, it was worth the discomfort to get the shot [though my wife may not agree with that]!  :)
