Ruine du Wineck et le village de Katzenthal

            Les fouilles ont permis de dater l'origine du château en 1200. Il semble avoir été occupé au XIIIe siècle par une famille de Wineck. En 1499 le château est mentionné en ruines, sans que l'on en sache la raison. En 1864 la ruine est acquise par la Société pour la Conservation des Monuments d'Alsace. Le donjon malgré son espace intérieur réduit était habitable et équipé d'éléments de confort : des latrines et un poêle y ont été découverts lors des fouilles.
Sur une des faces du donjon, on peut apercevoir une poterne qui en permettait l’accès via un escalier en bois.
