IMG_5383 prairie chicken - a photo on Flickriver

            Multiple males display for females at a lek (commonly a open area on a hilltop). They perform interesting courtship dances where they strut about and stamp their feet.  Males utter a deep cooing call referred to as “booming” that may be heard a mile away .....start of the 'dancing' season, chicken girls will love it !

each male seems to have his own tiny piece of 'the dance floor'.....
