Morocco Visa 1989 - 4 Days Was Enough / Free Fall Elevator / Smell & Flies

            Entrance and exit visa stamps from Morocco -- no country is named. Arrived by ferry from Spain on New Years Day - only 1 trip that day because of the holiday. The Spanish driver was up all night celebrating -- he showed no adverse effect. Some of the tourists drank more than they could handle and needed "barf stops" on the way from Seville to Alceceris.

Leaving the Spanish enclave of Ceuta on the African side, the bus entered a pit where the entire bus, including the tourists inside, was sprayed with DDT. Hard to imagine anything harmful in Spain that does not already exist in Morocco -- at least it got most of the tourists choking.

Four days in Morocco was enough. The guide said "If you eat ANYTHING that I don't approve you may be ready for the medical evacuation flight in a month - they only take cash." Was only slightly injured when the elevator in the first hotel free fell 3 floors before stopping suddenly between floors. One of the passengers freaked out and started yelling "Break the glass, get us out of here." I could hear the hotel staff say (in Arabic) "It's expensive. They can wait." We were given a free lunch for the trouble.

After the ideal conditions encountered in Spain and Portugal, the smell and flies in Morocco were not pleasing. Worth visiting ONCE.
