Ganzebloem / Margriet/ Daisy wit - a photo on Flickriver

De naam margriet komt van het Oudgriekse margarites, dat weer uit het Babylonisch komt en parel betekent. Een andere Nederlandse naam die in vroegere tijden voor de margriet is gebruikt is ganzebloem, die tegenwoordig voor een andere soort wordt gebruikt.

The name daisy comes from the Ancient Greek margarites, which again comes from Babylonian and means pearl. Another Dutch name that was used for the daisy in earlier times is goose flower, which is nowadays used for a different species.
