De Japanse wilde appel (Malus floribunda), beter bekend als sierappel, is een boom die in het voorjaar een kleurrijke bloesem heeft en in de herfst appeltjes draagt. De appeltjes kunnen afhankelijk van het ras in grootte variëren van vrij groot tot zeer klein. De kleur van een sierappeltje kan geel, geel geblost of rood zijn. Ook worden sierappeltjes in bloemstukjes verwerkt, vooral in kerststukjes.

The Japanese wild apple (Malus floribunda), better known as the ornamental apple, is a tree that has a colorful blossom in the spring and that bears apples in the autumn. Depending on the variety, the apples can vary in size from quite large to very small. The color of an ornamental apple can be yellow, yellow, blushed or red. Also, ornamental apples are used in flower arrangements, especially in Christmas pieces.
