Training for the Glocknerkönig - Race_1996_Leica R5

Since many years there is the so called Glocknerkönig – race. Every year professional and amateur bikers start in May from Bruck an der Glocknerstrasse up to the Fuschertörl. A route of 27.3km and 1,694 altitude must be managed. The aim is the Fuschertörl at 2,445m and mostly still in snow. I went this race for the first time in 1996. I've participated it for 4 times. It is always an experience to start among hundreds of like-minded people. 1996 I biked with backpack, camera and shimano clickersandals! The above photo was created at a training ride a few days later.

Seit vielen Jahren gibt es den Glocknerkönig. Jedes Jahr im Mai starten Profi- und Amateurradler von Bruck an der Glocknerstrasse hinauf zum Fuschertörl. Eine Strecke von 27,3km und 1694 Höhenmeter müssen bewältigt werden. Ziel ist am Fuschertörl auf 2.445m und meistens noch im Schnee.
Ich bin dieses Rennen das erste Mal 1996 mitgefahren. Insgesammt habe ich 4 Mal daran teilgenommen. Es ist jedes Mal ein Erlebnis unter hunderten Gleichgesinnten zu starten.
1996 bin ich noch mit Rucksack, Kamera und Shimano Klickersandalen gestartet!
