Los Angeles Metrolink informational/introduction brochure - August 1991

            An early map of the proposed system has it stretching way out east to Mentone, however that town was removed on the next map that was published and subsequent maps showed the line only going as far as Redlands.  They weren't kidding when they labeled that route as opening "Post 1995" - as of 2018, the branch out to Redlands is FINALLY under construction but will take a different form and not be opened until late 2020.  A different service called "Arrow" will operate Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) trains between Redlands and San Bernardino on a frequent basis, although it has been stated that Metrolink will operate their own trains on the route during rush-hours only (likely through runs to/from Los Angeles). 

The Hemet line, so far, has only made it as far as South Perris (opened in 2016).

And of course, the route shown to Moorpark is the Ventura County Line which now stretches all the way out to East Ventura (Montalvo). The route to Santa Clarita is now the Antelope Valley line, extending all the way up to Lancaster.
