Frisco On the Frisco - a photo on Flickriver

            The CPKC Fort Smith Dodger is seen on its return trip back from Fort Smith Arkansas as the train crosses the former Frisco bridge that takes the CPKC, Former KCS over the Poteau River. The lead locomotive, KCS #2951, is former Frisco SLSF #751 and is right at home leading this train on this original piece of Frisco trackage.

The train has less than 1/2 mile to go before the crew ties down the train sort of the switch with the CPKC Heavener Subdivision mainline here in Poteau. Running as CPKC Train RK01-11, the train left Heavener late due to mechanical problems with one of the locomotives that they originally had in the consist. That locomotive ended up being dropped in the yard before making the run to Fort Smith. Once it Fort Smith they got caught behind Arkansas & Missouri Railroad (AM) and Fort Smith Railroad (FSR) switch jobs before they could work the interchanges and turn back to toward Heavener. The crew would be short on time and the decision was made to tie the train down on the south end of the branch as to not hold up mainline traffic on the Heavener Sub.
