Dies ist das original BMW 328 Touring-Coupé, mit dem Fritz Huschke von Hahnstein und Walter Bäumer 1940 die Kriegsausgabe der Mille Miglia gewannen.

Nach mehr als 40-jähriger Odyssee kann dieses edle Unikat wieder von den USA zurück nach München. Es gelang BMW im Jahre 2002 dem amerikanischen Oldtimersammler Jim Proffit den legendären Rennsportwagen abzukaufen. Über den Preis wird Stillschweigen bewahrt, Insider munkeln aber, dass der Kalifornier jetzt seinem Namen ein drittes "f" dazugefügt hat.
Den Bayern glückte mit dem Rückkauf ein klaffende Lücke in der Dokumentation und Darstellung ihrer Historie zu schließen.
