To See the Light

            Sunrise over the Manti La Sal mountains from the Standing Rocks in the Maze District, Canyonlands National Park.  On the left is Chimney Rock, and the larger pillar to the right is The Plug.  

Two "ray" phenomena are at work here: the sunbursts, split in two by a cloud, and crepuscular rays (sun shining through the clouds, which cast the long shadows).  High winds had kicked up copious amounts of dust that contributed to the golden haze on the horizon. (ii)

Dedicated to the victims of the unconscionable act of violence in Manchester- our hearts go out to the families affected by this cowardly act.
