Pearls of the northern Elk Range - a photo on Flickriver

            Snowmass Mountain (left, 14,099 ft /4,297 m) and Hagerman Peak (right, 13841 ft / 4219 m) are reflected in a bend of a branch of the N fork of the Crystal River, just below Geneva Lake.  These peaks, along with Capitol Peak and Mount Sopris to the north, are notable for their bright granitic rock, which contrasts with the dark sedimentary rocks of the peaks to the south, which include the Maroon Bells.  The junction of the sedimentary cap and the extruded underlying granite is just to the right of this view.
