Highly situated fortress of Montefalcone Appennino

Montefalcone Appennino is a comune in the Italian region Marche. Montefalcone is a steep stone hill town. It occupies a spur between the rivers Aso and Tenna. The region is located in the Central area of Italy, bordered by Emilia-Romagna and the republic of San Marino to the north, Tuscany to the west, Umbria to the southwes. Marche is one of Italy's little-unknown treasures. It's the inland where the countryside of Marche really shines. The region stretches along the Adriatic coast. The lovely hills of its interior are rich farming terrain, and only spotted with market towns and one-street villages. On the rock is the church of Saint Michael Archangel located. This is the parish church of the village. It is mentioned for the first time as Saint Angel of the Castle in a document dating back to 1332. It is Greek cross-shaped and it was built in Romanesque style. The main sights are also the tower of the former castle, the church of St. Peter (14th century) and the church of Santa Maria delle Scalelle.

Montefalcone Appennino is dorpje in de Italiaanse regio Marche. Montefalcone is een steile heuvelstad. Het is gelegen tussen de rivieren Aso en Tenna. De regio ligt in het centrale deel van Italië, begrensd door Emilia-Romagna en de republiek San Marino in het noorden, Toscane in het westen, Umbrië in de zuidwestelijke richting. Marche heeft nog vele onbekende mooie plekjes in Italië. Het is het binnenland waar het landschap van Marche schittert. De regio strekt zich uit langs de Adriatische kust. De mooie heuvels van het binnenland zijn rijk agrarisch terrein. De dorpjes zijn niet groter dan één straat. Op de rots is de kerk van de Aartsengel Michaël gevestigd. Dit is de parochiekerk van het dorp. Het wordt voor het eerst vermeld als de heilige engel van het kasteel in een document dat teruggaat tot 1332. Het is Grieks kruisvormig en het werd gebouwd in Romaanse stijl. De belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden zijn ook de toren van het voormalige kasteel, de kerk van St. Peter (14e eeuw) en de kerk van Santa Maria delle Scalelle.
