Deer Fly (Stonemyia, Tabanidae) caught in a tangled web

Spider webs have charms of their own, but we must never forget that their purpose is to catch insects - like this! This bee-size fly (Diptera) has gotten caught up in (I believe) the tangled web of a Cobweb Weaver spider in the family Theridiidae. It looks like the fly has been here for some time, and it appears to be untouched. I believe the unfortunate fly is a non-biting Deer Fly in the family Tabanidae, probably genus Stonemyia - see this photo for a close shot of a living fly. The bright green eyes of the living fly are much prettier that the dusty black eyes of the fly in my photo. I usually find these flies in June, so this one may have been hanging here for some time.
