Just a fly on a catkin of Arroyo Willow

            This is "just a fly" (Diptera) on a pollen-bearing staminate catkin of Arroyo Willow (Salix lasiolepis, Salicaceae) by the creek.  Well, maybe it's not just a fly - after all, it's working a native flower well away from any houses and not looking for garbage.  It's quite bristly, and there are a few raindrops from a storm in the morning.  I'm not sure what kind of fly it is, but HFDF!  (San Marcos Pass, 6 March 2019)
