Esta prueba cierra el calendario 2009 del Real Club Marítimo del Abra

La tradicional y masiva Regata del Gallo volverá a ser un año más referente de la vela y del deporte vizcaíno en estas fechas navideñas. La fotografía de setenta cruceros atravesando el puente Colgante, con sus espectaculares velas de colores desplegadas al viento, se ha convertido ya en una de las imágenes clásicas y más sugerentes. Este sábado día 19, a partir de las 12 horas, si las condiciones meteorológicas de este otoño y la marea lo permiten, decenas de embarcaciones partirán desde la dársena de la Benedicta para cruzar el emblemático puente de Bizkaia. Desde ahí, navegarán hacia las aguas del Abra, donde completarán un recorrido de unas 12 millas.

Esta prueba es siempre una de las más esperadas por todos los regatistas, que han logrado que esta Regata del Gallo sea la cita más concurrida del año junto a la Regata a la Inversa del 1 de mayo. El cierre de la temporada de regatas de 2008, programado por el Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club, es por tanto de lo más espectacular. Además, muchas personas se colocan en las orillas de Portugalete y de Las Arenas; y en la zona de Punta Galea para fotografiar el impresionante pelotón de barcos. Aunque la instantánea más buscada sea siempre el paso inicial por el Puente Colgante.
