Long-eared Owl

            Well this evening I had the choice of watching Long-eared Owls on Springwatch or going watching my own local LEOs.    It was no contest and I'm so glad I did because I managed to capture this eye-contact flight shot as it hunted to feed its chicks in the evening sunshine.  Long-eared Owls are pretty strictly nocturnal but will appear just before sunset when they have a hungry brood to feed.  It was on the edge of the Peak District National Park in West Yorkshire.
