Quadranaou Park Autumn Colors - a photo on Flickriver

            The same thing happens to me each year the Christmas Season sneaks up on me before I have Autumn out of my system.  Well this year is no exception so even though Christmas fast approaches today's series is from some great fall colors I found in Marietta's Quadranaou park in early Nov 2018.

Visable in several of the photos in this series is a low roughly square Indian ceremonial mound in the park.  When Marietta was settled in the 1760's two large earthen walls led from this mound  and formed an avenue or pathway which was protective or ceremonial or both down to the Muskingum River.  An early brick maker in  Marietta removed the walls and turned them into bricks which are still present in many of the buildings and streets of Marietta today.  During the Civil War the mound was the site of a Union field hospital.
