The Vicenza area is rich waters flowing down from the pre-Alpine valleys, flow from the springs of the plain , flowing around the historical center of Vicenza and flow towards the sea. The waters are so much a part of the history of the city and territory were the problem and resource defense and a source of contention, and limit development opportunities.
The gardens Salvi (or garden Salvi, also known as gardens Valmarana Salvi ) is a garden to the public site Vicenza , adjacent to the walls of Piazza Castello, in Piazzale De Gasperi.

Placed in the historical center , the gardens Salvi currently represent one of the green areas for public use less extensive in the city.
History 
The land was acquired in the sixteenth century by the family Valmarana , also came into possession of the old castle Scala adjacent transformed into a palace.

The same James Valmarana designed the layout of the garden as an Italian parterre , as shown by the eighteenth-century view of Christopher Dalley.  

The gardens were opened in 1592 by Leonardo Valmarana (date and name are shown in the Loggia Valmarana)  and covered the area bounded by the extension of the Palladio course and the course of the Canal Seriola , ditch that since the time of opening was equipped with a wooden bridge that would allow the crossing. Open to the public by the will of Leonardo, were later closed for a couple of centuries.

Nell ' nineteenth century the park was turned into a garden . Only in 1909 was again allowed access to the public and has since often the venue for the Christmas markets.

The garden since 2008 has undergone a radical redevelopment, completed in February 2009 , which has provided him with, inter alia, a path for the disabled and a rose garden collection.

Inside the park: There are two lodges in the Palladian style : the first, seventeenth-century and three arches , known as loggia Longhena, was ordered by Baldassare Longhena and is located on the western side of the park; the second, known as the loggia Valmarana, is structured like a temple hexastyle of Doric order with five arches , meant to be a meeting place for intellectuals and academics (at least according to the customer project Gian Luigi Valmarana ). It was built in 1591 probably by a pupil of Andrea Palladio . Identification of Andrea Palladio as the author of the lodge Ottavio Bertotti Scamozzi (1761) expressed strong reservations "because its members s'allontanano them too by the precepts of Palladio"; Pane (1961) defines it as "very close to Palladio, though not his" and states that ".... The lodge is situated in the area of uncertainty inevitably marked for us ..."; Cevese (1980) takes a hypothesis Bressan and speaks of "Palladian".  La Loggia Valmarana is inserted since 1994 with other major Palladian architectural monuments in the list of World Heritage Sites of the ' UNESCO .

The portal, which is the main entrance to the park and monument (the second is beyond the Seriola, on the opposite side), called "arc of Revese", in memory of a triumphal arch larger than it had been erected in 1608 by Pier Paolo Battaglia, captain of Vicenza, along the present avenue in Rome, and attributed to the architect Ottavio Brutus Revese . On the occasion of a visit of Benito Mussolini in 1938 , to pass the fascist procession, this monument was demolished.  

Along the course of Seriola, in the space between the canal and the ancient city walls, where once they were placed in greenhouses built by Leonardo Valmarana in 1583, rising from 1947, the two pavilions of the old Trade Fair  (later transferred in the industrial area), designed by architect Sergio Ortolani (the author of the churches of San Carlo and St. Joseph in Vicenza).
