Mayor of the 4th biggest US City of Houston on Veterans Day Ceremony.

Houston voters made history in December of 2009, electing the first openly gay mayor of a major U.S. city.
Mayor Parker was sworn in to her first term as mayor of Houston on January 4, 2010. She is Houston’s 61st Mayor and one of only two women to hold the City’s highest elected office.
Prior to serving as an elected official, Parker worked in the oil and gas industry as a software analyst for over 20 years, including 18 years at Mosbacher Energy.

Parker and her life partner Kathy Hubbard are also advocates for adoption, with two adopted daughters and a son.
