The people in the scene certainly have reasons to be cheerful as they enjoy watching 37558 depart from Carlisle on the 14:33 to Barrow. I think the scene shows one of the real strengths of the railway hobby, it can be enjoyed in different ways, by people of all ages, and different walks of life. The common interest binds people together.

The song was written by Ian Dury during an extended stop over on a tour, he was apparently a prolific writer of lists. I wonder if he ever visited the railway station at Kilburn High, the namesake of his first group?

At the age of seven, Ian contracted Polio, leaving him disabled down one side. He went to a school for disabled children and recalled it being a tough time, quoting that if the children fell over then they had to get themselves back up again!

The song reached number 3 in the UK chart in July 1979, and was to be the final one released by the band in their original line up.
