Statue of Liberty Pedestal - a photo on Flickriver

            The National Park Police and Rangers both have a presence on Liberty Island.  NYCSwim must have worked more closely with the Rangers when they obtained  permission for me to fly my "kite camera". A few minutes after this shot was taken a woman from the police side pulled up in her golf cart and said "You again?". She really wanted me to take the kite down, but we managed to bring her up to speed on the event permit details. My victory proved insignificant as the wind soon died and rain started to fall. All this before the race started and before I had a chance to get the camera higher.
In the lower levels of the pedestal you'll find a torch exhibit and museum that will walk you through the statue's history. We were able to access the pedestal's balconies without a crown ticket.
