SD44-1 Nuclear Locomotive - a photo on Flickriver

            OK, so for long time listeners of the show I don't think it's a secret that I have a pretty big 9V train collection and the Emerald Night.

I've been wanting to do a space train for a while, but never had a reason until we started really expanding our space layout.  Now we're ready for a for reals train, and I wanted to build at least a locomotive.

But the internet, normally so helpful, is almost totally devoid of fantasy, space, or futuristic-looking railroad hardware.  And what you do find is either just an evolution of a bullet-train type or some kind of maglev.

So I got really excited when I saw the Galaxy Squad Vermin Vaporizer, and I knew that was my starting point.

I wanted it to look futuristic, but believable, an evolution on the modern freight locomotive, rather than anything too far out.  I knew I wanted it to hold the big 9V power functions battery pack, an IR receiver, two M motors, and two sets of lights, so that dictated the height.  And I wanted some stripes on it.

I'd love to have any and all feedback as this is my first space train, but I drew several more.
