It may have been a 17km round trip to walk up to this place from Buttermere but it was well worth it. As I sat eating my Jaffa Cakes admiring the view the clouds rolled across what had previously been a blue sky just as some unwitting models sat in the frame to enjoy their picnic giving the whole scene a sense of scale. Within a few seconds it was snowing and I was on my way again. I did consider staying the night, but a quick peep inside confirmed my worst fears, it has no bar!
