It is not flesh and blood but the heart which makes us fathers and sons. It is not flesh and blood but the heart which makes us fathers and sons.
It is not flesh and blood but the heart which makes us fathers and sons.

- Johann Schiller This quote is SO fitting for this photo. I did a shoot a few days ago of a family of 4. The wife called me in desperation because she wanted some family pictures very quickly and didn't know if there was time. Her husband, pictured here, got orders to go overseas with the military. So this Sunday he leaves his wife and 2 young boys for an entire year to Afghanistan. Just doesn't seem fair, does it? My heart breaks for them. The least I could do was shoot these pictures for them, no costs involved, and we had a blast doing so. It was probably one of my most favorite sessions in 7 years. They wanted photos of them as a family as they are every day. They wanted shots of them playing, running, wrestling, watching fish in a pond, all things fathers and sons do. Of course I got a zillion with mom in them, too, but this is one of my favorites. Shows so much joy and undying love from all three. I wish the family nothing but the best. I cannot even begin to fathom being this wife...the mother...going through 365 days alone...raising my boys...and not really knowing what the future holds. I guess that's kind of how life is for all of us each day, but for military families, it's something that I don't think they ever take for granted. I am shooting my bff's wedding on Saturday, as well as being in the wedding, and I'm swamped with getting preparations ready for it. It's basically just her and I doing everything! So I'll be gone till Sunday. After that I hope to get back into everyone's streams. { Explore #114 highest position, Sept 25th }
