Wildflower shows can be awesome - a photo on Flickriver

This is a very poor year for Antelope Valley's poppy fields. It's nice to have photos to show just how good they can be. Here's another entry from my lucky day out there April 22, 2010, right after fresh snow fell on the Tehachapi Mountains. The poppies are furled due to the morning cold. Dwarf lupine are in the foreground. This was taken near the Poppy Reserve. For more poppy shows, including unfurled flowers, see my Wildflowers Set. People seemed to like this one in particular; it made Explore and Getty Images, too. An even more popular shot was taken March 22 the following year: 2011. Sadly, 2012 and 2013 were duds. Hopefully next year will give us another grand show.
