Heart Lake hike: Factory Hill - a photo on Flickriver

** We are on a photo hike of Heart Lake, Yellowstone **

We're back on the main trail again. Here's one last look at the Fissure Group of Heart Lake Geyser Basin at the foot of Factory Hill (9,600'). Mt. Sheridan shows its summit (10,305') in the distance. In about half a mile we'll pass by the steamy, noisy mudpots of White Gulch, the northernmost extent of Heart Lake Geyser Basin [see photo in album].

Leaving our last views of Heart Lake behind at Paycheck Pass, we hike the last five miles or so through flat forest to the trailhead. We will have walked about 18 miles today and seen a lot of geysers and springs that few Yellowstone tourists have seen or even know exist. Hope you enjoyed this photo hike!
