Heart Lake, Yellowstone - a photo on Flickriver

** We are on a photo hike of Heart Lake, Yellowstone **

After about 8.5 miles of hiking, we reach beautiful Heart Lake. Actually, it should be spelled Hart Lake, T. Scott Bryan says: "It was named by explorers before 1871 after an early prospector, Hart Hunney, who prospected throughout the Montana-Wyoming region. The spelling was inadvertently changed by the geological survey of 1871 and became official in the incorrect form." From the air, though, the lake outline looks roughly like a heart. Nobody knows Hart Hunney, but we can all love a heart. The view is roughly southeast.
