Aménagé en 1794 ou 1804 selon les sources, le cimetière est situé à l'extérieur du village et comprend 700 tombes dont les plus anciennes sont de la première décennie du 19e siècle. Les tombes les plus anciennes sont simples et modestes, très homogènes. Elles se diversifient vers le milieu du siècle pour se rapprocher toujours plus des modèles chrétiens à la fin du 19e siècle.
Déjà au moyen âge une communauté juive est installée à Hattstatt. En 1348, les Juifs sont brûlés au lieu-dit "Judenbrand" (Herrlisheim). En 1375, quelques familles se réinstallent ; elles sont au nombre de 43 en 1780. Au début du siècle, la communauté était assez importante pour avoir son école particulière. La synagogue fut détruite par le seul obus allemand tombé à l'intérieur du village, le 17 juin 1940.
Hattstatt est siège d'un rabbinat jusqu'en 1862, supprimé officiellement en 1910.

Fitted out in 1794 or 1804 according to sources, the cemetery is situated outside of the village and understands 700 graves the most former of which are of the first decade of the 19th century. The most former graves are simple, modest and very homogeneous. They diversify by the middle of the century to get closer always more Christian models at the end of the 19th century.
Already in the Middle Ages a Jewish community is installed to Hattstatt. In 1348, the Jews are burned in the locality "Judenbrand" (Herrlisheim). In 1375, some families reinstall; they are among 43 in 1780. At the beginning of the century, the community was rather important for having his particular school. The synagogue was destroyed by the only German shell fallen inside the village, on June 17th, 1940.
