1012_1056 Parkinson Creek - a photo on Flickriver

            I'm going back a few years for the next set of images, each one a take on flowing water (or crashing waves, or water suddenly locked into ice by an overnight temperature drop). All are shots from Canada's west coast. I was going to upload a different set, but we had more snow overnight and I just want to see it all melt and turn into grass and flowers. 

Here is a rocky creek bank on southern Vancouver Island. Very simple.  I made this shot from a little bridge, looking almost straight down at a pool of nearly still water and some interesting bedrock. The day was sunny, but my subject lay in a dark ravine. I was struck by how closely the edge lines here resemble parts of the Island seen from the air: fractal patterns, repeating on different scales. Nearby was a small waterfall, many little eddies and swirls and pools of quiet water, and the creek frothing and cascading down a rock-filled channel to empty into the ocean, all surrounded by tangled, almost impenetrable forest.
