WINTER CHERRY BLOSSOMS ALONG THE SUMMIT ROAD TO THE TOP OF MT. YAE in NORTHERN OKINAWA

            I took some relatives up NAGO CITY to see the Cherry Blossoms. It was a bust. Maybe next week they'll be in full bloom there.

So... off to NAKIJIN CASTLE, where pretty pretty posters advertised a Cherry Blossom wonderland against the ancient walls of the old fortress. It was a bust. They said, "The blossoms are late this year. Come back next week !".

So... off to MT. YAE (whose blooming time was technically supposed to be over). We arrived just after the sun had set, and the vibrant pink blossoms were in competition with the twilight sky. 

But, OH YES ! In the fading light, it was clear that the Summit Road to the top of Mt. Yae was in full bloom, with many shades of pink not seen throughout the rest of Japan.

So... what whaddaya do ? 

Easy ! Tell your little gang (who thought we were too late to take any good pictures) not to despair, but instead, turn on your smartphone flash, and go to it !!!

We all left highly satisfied with our off-the-wall, twilight flash photos. Below are a few of my own, taken with a pocket point-and-shoot camera, and posted in the exact order I took them as the sky faded from twilight into darkness.
