Hannover, Ballhofplaz - a photo on Flickriver

            Hannover has a population of 518,000, is a major transport hub, has excellent public transport and has the world's largest exhibition centre. Hotel charges in Hannover triple during big Expos so i recommend staying in Braunschweig/Brunswick, a rather nice and somewhat cheaper town 30 minutes along the railway line). Hanover is a major centre of Northern Germany and the country's thirteenth largest city.

"Hannover" OR "Hanover"? Well Hanover is the traditional English spelling. The German spelling (with a double n) is becoming more popular in English.

Much of the modern block like architecture is the result of RAF bombing in WW2. More than 90% of the city center was destroyed in a total of 88 bombing raids. Today Hanover is a Vice-President City of Mayors for Peace, an international mayoral organisation mobilising cities and citizens worldwide to abolish and eliminate nuclear weapons by the year 2020, sadly a goal unlikely ever to be achieved, especially while Germany is still under american occupation.
