North Klondike Valley - Yukon Autumn

Spectacular morning light on the North Klondike Valley in Tombstone Territorial Park Yukon. Mount Tombstone's peak is clipped by clouds in the upper left. This park is 70 kilometers from the southern end of the Dempster Highway – a 750 km gravel road linking Dawson City to Inuvik in the NWT. We spent 8 days exploring the Dempster; camping, hiking and backpacking along the way. The early September autumn colors in the mountains of central Yukon were unlike any I had ever seen anywhere else before -- completely spellbinding landscape!

Update 2010:
We went back here in 2010 to explore the end of this valley for 9 days. Here's a photo taken from one of those dark ridges on the horizon looking back at this viewpoint.
