As usual, every Friday or Saturday night River Cats game played at Raley Field had fireworks afterwards. However this time was significant, in that this was the 1,000th game played at Raley Field. I can still remember going the first week it opened and thinking how cool it was. It was a big step forward for West Sacramento.

The weather more than cooperated for the game (which they won 9-5). It was a fairly typical summer day with highs in the mid-90's, but the Delta Breeze had been steadily increasing all afternoon. Hard to believe there is a Summer storm on the way that could dump close to an 1" of rain, with high temperatures in the Upper 60's to Low 70's!! Totally unheard of for Sacramento in the summer.
