Bahama Beach - Deadman's Reef - West End, Grand Bahama Island

This was one of my favorite images on my trip. It was the last day of shooting, and I couldn't ask for better conditions. The location was amazing and the light was NICE. This was one of those scenes, where the atmosphere was so menacing and powerful, but yet so calm and tranquil. The clouds were so intense and full of drama, I had to take a minute to take it all in. This beach was WAY off the beaten path. I tried to find this location on the map, and couldn't find any info. I can tell you that it is on the West End of the island, some where between Deadman's Reef and Bahama Beach.

Now the beach..........there was a pathway through a small treeline of pine trees. Once you get to the beach, there is nice white sand, but this is where the location gets weird. As I start walking towards these rocks, the sand is super soft, my foot would sink a good 4 inches every step I took, which was really strange. I start to notice all of the nice size conk shells all along the shoreline, but the further I walk along the shore, the conk shells were starting to decay and break up. It started to look like a graveyard for all of the conk shells. FREAKY. Once I get to the rocky area, I was amazed. There were endless compositions here. In the water out of the water, on the rocks, off the rocks, you name it, it was there. The water was completely still, and again......very clear. With the calmness of the water and with the slight ocean breeze along with the massive storm clouds, just made the scene kind of creepy. I'm going nuts...... shooting away, shooting various comps, and I notice that the light was diminishing very fast, and normally I would stay and keep shooting, but at this location being that it was so remote, and isolated, I thought it would be a good idea to high tail it up out of there. I just had visions of me getting bitten by a tiger shark or stepping on a sting ray, and I'm out there flopping around with no one in sight. I was freaking myself out, I did get attack by a bunch of mosquitoes on the way out, but that is much better than the crazy thoughts that were running through my head at the time. More shots from this location in the future.
