floating on a sea of milk and honey - a photo on Flickriver

I've been after this shot for a couple of years now. I had actually envisioned a little bit less sand in the foreground (or no sand at all) but this is as high as the tide gets so it looks like that shot is an impossibility. Probably should have pushed another minute on the exposure to get more even cloud movement again. Something I still need to remember for future reference.

It's amazing to me how rare the right clouds for capturing movement are. It seems like it should be an everyday occurrence but the ever elusive "partly cloudy" forecast never seems to come to fruition.

I wonder what the pier used to look like before it burned. Has anybody ever seen pics of that? Would definitely make for a more dramatic subject than it does now.

My sigma is definitely showing signs of trouble since the soaking it took a couple months back. It works perfectly for normal shots but on long exposures I get a large prominent flare in the lower 1/3 of the pic. CS5 and its unbelievable content aware fill function rescued this shot.
