This lens features two different diaphragms - a step-less 14-bladed “perfectly circular” T-stop aperture that works with the apodization element and a 9-bladed aperture which determines the lens’ effective aperture (ƒ-number) and the resulting depth-of-field.

The apodization element causes the loss of 1 .3 stops of light, but that's quite acceptable for the bokeh performance you get - especially compared to the SONY FE 100mm ƒ/2.8 STF GM OSS, which is a T/5.6 and loses two full stops!
