Heavenly Dunes In Death Valley - a photo on Flickriver

This was the start of a marathon five-day photography adventure in Death Valley National Park with pdxsafariguy and nix_l. Back-to-back-to-back... sunset/sunrise photo shoots with a nighttime star trail session thrown in for extra sleep deprivation. ;p

First sunset shoot, and don't you know it, my camera falls in a nose-dive off the side of a dune, taking out the auto-focus on my 18-200mm lens - doh! Time to upgrade to those fancy L-lenses sooner than expected... I spent most of the trip with this Tokina wide-angle lens which really helped to establish the vast sense of space in the park. I was amazed at how many diverse locations are available within a few hours drive.

Sorry to my contacts for falling off of the map this past 6 months. (The day job was taking up all of my energy - aka 'sitting in front of a computer' daily quota.) Lots of processing to do from this trip & the past few seasons... Glad to be back on Flickr :)
