I sat with this Drill, who was at his usual spot right up at the glass, for at least half an hour. I watched him with some amusement as he struggled to stay awake, obviously at ease with the hoards of visitors stopping by to ooh and aah at him. He eventually moved off to display at a female that had wandered in from outside. He was one of the most challenging subjects of the day, despite being very cooperative, because the Monkey House is so dark and reflection is a significant problem.

About the Drill
The Drill (Mandrillus leucophaeus) is a primate of the Cercopithecidae (Old-world Monkeys) family, closely related to the baboons and even more closely to the Mandrill.
It is similar in appearance to the Mandrill, but lacks the colorful face. It is found only in Cameroon, Nigeria, north of the Sanaga River and on the coastal island of Bioko, part of Equatorial Guinea.

The Drill is one of Africa's most endangered primates.
