            The town sits on the North Shore of Lake Superior. You get a panoramic view from the overlook on Pincushion Mountain at the start of the Gunflint Trail. On the left is Artist's Point, creating a cove on one side and boasting magnificent views of its rocky shore and the expanse of the lake on the other. To the right is the harbor with its two breakwaters and lighthouses.
